The legendary music producer and his wife, Katharine McPhee, are expecting their first child together, according to sources close to the couple. Just recently, the happy couple was spotted enjoying a day out in Montecito, California. They grabbed lunch and did some shopping for baby toys, getting ready for the newest member of their family. Katharine, who is 36, made sure her growing baby bump was on full display as she strolled around in a pair of gray leggings and a cozy long-sleeved top. At 70, David is proving that age is just a number when it comes to building a family.
A New Chapter in Love and Life
This is an exciting chapter for David, who already has five adult daughters—Allison, 50; Amy, 46; Sara, 39; Erin, 38; and Jordan, 34. It’s also a special time for Katharine, who is stepping into motherhood for the very first time. Theirs is a love story that started on the stage of "American Idol." Back in 2006, when Katharine was a contestant on the show's fifth season, she met David, and their connection was immediate. Though their romance didn’t bloom right away, they remained close friends over the years, eventually realizing that their bond was meant for more. By 2017, they were officially a couple, and the rest, as they say, is history.
A Lifetime of Love
Before meeting Katharine, David had been married four times. His first marriage was to B.J. Cook from 1972 to 1981, followed by Rebecca Dyer from 1982 to 1986, and Linda Thompson from 1991 to 2005. His fourth marriage was to Yolanda Hadid, which lasted from 2011 to 2017. Despite his past, David has found true happiness with Katharine, and it’s clear that their love is here to stay.
While some might think the age difference between David and Katharine could be an issue, the couple doesn’t seem to care. In fact, David’s daughters have been nothing but supportive of their dad’s new chapter. As Erin once told People in 2018, the age gap has even played a positive role in their dad's life. "Our dad comes from a generation where women are more passive, and he himself is quite reserved about expressing feelings," she explained. "But Kat has really pushed him to open up. She’s a facilitator, which is really important. She pushes him to be more emotional and vulnerable."
