When you think of Donny Osmond, you probably picture him belting out a hit song or charming audiences on TV. But there’s a new title to add to his already-impressive resume: Pastor Osmond. That’s right, folks. The 62-year-old singer and proud father of five recently stepped into the world of weddings, officiating his very first marriage while bringing his own unique twist to the ceremony. In true Donny style, he donned his iconic ensemble from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat for the occasion.
From the Stage to the Altar
Donny shared the heartwarming moment with his Instagram followers, posting photos from the special day. “Never in a million years did I think that I would be asked to marry someone,” he wrote, clearly expressing his surprise at being chosen for such an important role. The honor came from his close friend, Todd Salmon, who asked Donny to officiate his wedding to Rachel. And let’s just say, Donny didn’t disappoint.
A Coat Fit for a Pastor
Now, here’s where things got interesting. Todd has a deep love for the musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, having seen Donny perform in it multiple times. Knowing this, Donny decided to pay tribute to their shared passion by incorporating a little theater into the ceremony. “Pastors would normally wear a robe,” he joked in his Instagram post. “This pastor will now wear a coat.”

And what a coat it was! Donny pulled out his original Joseph coat, slipped it on, and delivered the vows with flair. “By the authority vested in me by the state of Utah, I now pronounce you husband and wife,” he declared, bringing a touch of Broadway magic to the occasion. The guests were thrilled, and many found it “pretty cool” that Joseph himself was presiding over the marriage.
Donny’s Humble Pastor Persona
While Donny might have been a natural in his new role, he made it clear that his pastor duties wouldn’t extend beyond this one wedding. “Anyone else want to get married?” he teased in his post. “Sorry, my license was only good for that wedding.” It was a lighthearted reminder that, while Donny enjoys trying out new roles, his heart remains firmly planted in music and television.
Speaking of which, Donny’s schedule is as packed as ever. Between spending quality time with his wife, Debbie Osmond, and their large family, he’s also hard at work on his 62nd studio album. And if that weren’t enough, he’s judging on FOX’s hit show I Can See Your Voice, where contestants try to distinguish good singers from bad without hearing them perform. Donny’s career is proof that he’s a man of many talents, and his fans can’t get enough of him.

Last Saturday I took on the title of Pastor Osmond. 😊 My dear friend, Todd Salmon, asked me to marry him and Rachel on 10/10/20. Todd has always loved the musical, “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat”. In fact he saw me in that musical several times. Just before I married them, I said, “Pastors would normally wear a robe. This pastor will now wear a coat.” 😂 I then pulled out my original Joseph coat, put it on and said, “By the authority vested in me by the state of Utah, I now pronounce you husband and wife.” Everyone thought that it was pretty cool that “Joseph” performed the marriage. Anyone else want to get married? 😂 Sorry, my license was only good for that wedding.
